I'm really curious about the interracial marrige controversy during the 60s, and what people thought about it, especially Catholics and really the Catholic church. It happened so recently, and many people who fought on both sides of the issue are still alive today, and I'm curious as to what they had to say (I myself am a product of an interracial marriage).

By this time his parents welcomed my sister into the family because they had given up all hope of ever seeing him married..

I share this story as an example that there are lots of reasons to not think someone is good enough for one's child that don't have anything to do with race.

I haven't even mentioned the fact that he exists to my parents, but my friends seem to like him. fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=128385305 Is he americanized at all (by that, I mean does he like American culture and how long has he been here)?

Is this taboo and how have you guys dealt with interracial relationships before (for those of you who have been in them)? If so, it'll be easier, but regardless, if you like each other then I don't see why you wouldn't go ahead. Your parents won't be there when you're older and since you're 20, I think you should start to do what you would like to do.

If I likea girl who wasn't my religion, I feel it would be an obstacle that we could both overcome.

Destro Most Californians know that the Catholic bishops of California strongly supported Proposition 8 that restored the definition of marriage between a man and a woman in November 2008.

That does not mean that there are not "complications" that your parents might be concerned about.

He relented and headed back home to Illinois because he valued his family relationships.

20 years later, still unmarried he met my sister, also a divorced single mother with an adult son and a grandchild.

My past boyfriends have been white but this guy really has my attention but I have no clue how my parents or his parents would take it.
